What Are The Side Effects Of Lancing Eardrum?

I am having my right eardrum lanced tomorrow afternoon to relieve fluid backup and infection. What are the side effects and recovery? What do I need to do in order to prepare for the recovery? Any nausea, etc.? I also have an early morning presentation to give the following morning - will I be able to give the speech?
