What Are The Symptoms Of MCL Tear?

Hi my name is hillary and I'm 22 years old, I hurt my knee senior year which was 3 years ago. I was lifting 80# of weights above my head and my left leg gave out and the weights landed on my medial knee, my teacher had me ice it for 2 weeks, and now it's locking up on me every night for the past month, and I can't lay it straight anymore, also it hurts getting out of the car. Does this sound like an MCL tear or a meniscus tear? And also I see an orthopedic Dr. Next week to see what the damage is
