Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband has been taking prednisone for over 5 years as part of his treatment for metastisized prostate cancer. He has changed to a new experimental drug which does not require him to take prednisone. Under doctor s care, we reduced his normal dose of 2x5 mg tablets per day (10 mg total) to one tablet per day for the first week. During that time, he began to feel sore and achy in all of the places that the cancer is in his bones; hips, ribs, shoulder, thigh, pelvis. We thought that the new drug wasn t working and that it was the cancer taking over but after reading about prednisone withdrawal symptoms, I wonder if it is that rather than the cancer that is causing him to feel so bad. We don t go back to see the oncologist until Jan. 20 so wonder if you might weigh in on this. Thank you.
