30 years ago I had severe Trichotillomania. I developed a scalp abscess and after 2 rounds of keflex, developed MRSA. Although the impulse is gone, I continue to have an irritated scalp, partially caused by scabby skin under the outer skin layer. However, I continue to feel pain at certain sites and if I remove the painful hair, I get a deep pocket in my scalp, as if removing the painful hair released a build up of air pressure. My question: is this painful air pocket a. An air pocket? If not, what’s going on? B. Caused by the previously treated MRSA? C. What can I do to relieve the underlying irritation of both deep scab tissue and air pockets? I realize this is an odd condition. I have been checked for lice and meds - both negative. Occasionally the skin breaks out in redness and serous fluid that has built up relieves some of the pain. Is serious fluid causing the air pockets?
