What Can Cause Aching Pain Throughout Wrist And Up Into Upper Arm?

I had 5 stitches in my right index finger (top side) - was badly bruised from base of finger and on palm from injection given to numb the finger when getting stitches. The stitches are out after 10 days - 2 days ago I started getting very bad aching type pain throughout my wrist and up into my upper arm. Can this be some type of infection or nerve damage?
