my daughter who is very immunocompromised has tested positive for alcaligenes faecalis in her ear culture along with candida albicans, strep--alphahemolytic, neisseira, and hemophylis. I am trying to find out more about how you get alcaligenes bacteria. I know its gram neg.She is on cefzil, and diflucan liquid for the yeast inf in her ear, and now will be going on cipro as well. What causes this bacteria? its environmental and normally nonpathogenic, and gram neg. That doesnt tell me how she may have gotten such a rare infection.
