What Cases Lumps On The Shaft Of The Penis?

I occasionally get bumps on the haft of the penis. They stay about 4 days then go away. i usually have no more then one at a time but right now there is two. This has been happening for several years now and like i said it happens occasionally not all the time. Is this a normal thing or could it be signs of something worse?
