I have a few scattered Petechiae - mostly trunk (3 or 4), upper arms (2 or 3 on each arm), maybe 1 or two on my legs, 1 on my face. I was recently at a dermatologist (within 2 months) and he mentioned nothing about it - neither did I because although I''d seen them, I had not been concerned until I googled them! I believe they are petechiae, no blanching, flat spots although I did scrape the "top" off of one. I am 49 y.o., , I take a diuretic and enalapril for BP, which is controlled. The diuretic is lasix, which was substituted three years ago for the hydrochlorothiazide I was taking, because I had gotten gout on two occasions. There are other aggravations caused by the diuretic (ringing ear, dry mouth, other stuff) - and now these petechaie.... which may have been there all along occasionally showing up (I thought it was freckle formation). I am thinking since I just saw the dermatologist (to confirm a small lipoma) but he gave me a thorough going over every inch - would have said something if this was a problem. Other than trying to get off this diuretic, anything else I should do? Oh, last full bllod count in 2008 had no issues with platelets, recent blood work did not do that panel, but all was well.
