What Causes A Bad Cough, Tonsils Swelling With Throat Spots And Dysphagia?

My daughter woke up this morning with a bad cough, almost sounds like croup. Her tonsils are swollen and she has a few white spots on the back of her throat. She has what looks like swollen taste buds at the very back of her tongue. She says is only hurts a little when she swallows and she does not have a fever. She had what appeared to be a cold sore pop up out of no where on her lip yesterday, but is almost gone today.
