What Causes A Bad Odor In The Nipples?

i finished breast feeding about 18 months ago however i still smell what could be described as a sour milk (cheesy) smell on my hand after touching my nipple i am concerned because i know breast cancer can produce a smelly discharge, yuck sorry!
