What Causes A Boil In The Buttocks?

a little timid to ask this. I have a boil or ingrown hair on my left butt cheek towards the top just a bit inside. Its uncomfortable when sitting. Does not come to a head and been putting rubbing alcohol on it and taking epsom salt baths. Getting better had for four days and irritating.
