What Causes A Bump On The Areola Of Breast?

On the areola of my right nipple, I have what appears to be a small ball of skin (I'm not sure of the proper name for it) attached to it. Could you tell me what it is and how I could get rid of it?

It's not painful in any way and I've had it for quite a long time.
