What Causes A Chesty Cough With Shortness Of Breath?

i have had a chesty cough with on and off flu like symptoms for 7 weeks, dr said no chest infection cough will not go and am quite shortof breath doing simple tasks and feel as if i have noenergy, also coughing so much i am being sick only spitle but has specks of blood
