What Causes A Cramping Pain And Heavy Bleeding After Delivery?

Hi, I had a baby May 17th. My first. I've been sick and had horrible cramping pain every sense. I also had extreme bleeding and golf ball sized clots, but my drs said that everything was fine if i was not soaking a pad in an hour. I'm not sure that this pain should be normal, even though my bleeding is at a normal rate now and the clots are not there anymore it seems like the pain just gets worse and worse.
