What Causes A Dark Spot Under The Tonsil?

Hi, I have this dark mark/spot under my tonsil along with some sores on the roof of my mouth. I got the sores checked out but the doctor didn't even see the dark spot under the tonsil. Because the guy that checked me out was sort of stubborn and didn't check again, I was just wondering what this dark spot is.
