What Causes A Feeling Of Mucus Lodged At Back Of Throat?

I have the feeling of something like mucus lodged at the back of my throat. This feeling makes me feel like I want to cough it out or dislodge it but I can t. Sometimes when I eat certain foods, it is very hard for me to swallow and I become panic as if I am going to choke or loose my breath.
