What Causes A Lesion On Thyroid Cartilage?

I have a lesion on my left thyroid cartilage, it is 1x8 cm and is diamond shaped. It was discovered during a CT scan. The clinical thought is thought is to wait 6 months and perform a second CT. I have not experienced any changes in my voice or throat. What are you thoughts. Paul
