What Causes A Lump In The Throat And Sore Throat?

Hi, i had a slight sore throat yesterday and noticed I had a white lump at the back of my throat on the fleshy arch part and today it's about 10 times worse, feels hot/like it's on fire and has turned much redder. Doesn't feel like a normal sore throat you get with a cold. Could you help me, what do you think it is and should I go to the Drs?
