What Causes A Painful Reddish Patch On The Lower Leg?

I don t have swelling or heat but I have redness and when I push on the area ( lower leg) it really hurts down deep. I had a bike accident last week and have two bag abrasions on my knee that still hurt badly. Should I be worried about this new redness that showed up this morning?
