What Causes A Painful Sore At The Opening Of Nostril?

i am a nurse so know alot about health but noticed over last few days a thickening on the lining of my nose and an almost boil type feeling feeling like a large spot near opening of nostril and also can feel it on other side of nose too, outside of nose slightly red is it a polyp doesnt look like it on pics it is sore
