What Causes A Pea Size Black Spot On The Buttlocks?

hi my son is white british and i took him the doctors 2 years ago as he fell on the arth n got a small purple bruise on his bum..now it is a small pea size black spot..the docs and health v said its a mongolian spot but ive read they are common in mixed race and he isnt ?? thank you for ur help xx
