What Causes A Purple Bruise On The Calf?

i have a dark purple-ish green-ish spot on my calf. its about 2 inches in diameter. idk how it got there. i dont remember banging it on anything. you can also feel a lump there. its like a bruise. but idk if thats what it is. it just doesnt seem normal and its gotten worse.
