What Causes A Rash On Buttocks?

I have a rash that is neither on my anus nor on the outer cheeks of my buttocks. It is a fine line of rash that follows directly down the crack on both sides but goes no deeper. What is it or at least what is the likelihood of it being caused by a pathogen as opposed to exposure to heat/moisture/etc.?
