What Causes A Red Spot In The Corner Of Eye?

My left eye appeared red in the left corner yesterday evening. I noticed it when I looked into the mirror. I have no pain, but I feel a slight difference when I bat it. it only appears in one eye. My head does not really hurt, but I can feel a slight difference occassionally. What should I do?
