What Causes A Spot In The Throat During Pregnancy?

Hello, my daughter who is twenty four and pregnant has a bruise spot right in the center of the trought that came on with a recent cold and sinus infection, however the spot is still there and it's been about two months. This happened one other time about a year ago with another cold she had. Why won't it go away it is quite noticeable to everyone.
