What Causes A Tender Spot And Swelling Around Left Eye ?

3 days ago I got a tender spot in the outside corner of my left eye. It is swollen dramatically, from my eyebrow to my cheek. I have water running down my face quite often since this started. I bathe the eye several times a day as I'm afraid it's an infection. There is redness in the swelling. Not sure if I'm explaining myself ok. I'm concerned it could spread to my other eye but there doesn't seem to be infected as there's only water running from it. Anything you could give me to explain what may be happening?
