What Causes A Weird Feeling In Upper Side Of Abdomen?

Hi I have been experiencing a feeling in the left upper side of my abdomin especially near my lower rib....this feeling does sometimes spread down toward the waistline and over my kidney area. Recently I noticed a similar sensation on the right side as well. The best water to describe this is a bruised pulling sensation.....this has been going on for quite sometime now.
