What Causes Abnormal Looking Faeces When Suffering From Diabetes?

I have been diagnosed with diabetes. Today I noticed what appeared to look like a string like substance in my feces. I am sticking to my diabetic diet and wondered if it was my body getting rid of unwanted substance due to my old diet which included tons of sugar and lots of fat?
