What Causes An Altered Sense Of Smell When Exposed To Cigarette Smoke?

Hello I'm 21 I've noticed when I'm around smoke smokers when I inhale and exhale a very strong smell comes out why is that not many like that so I stay away and know that has followed me home now it happens with about anything the thing is I can't smell it
