What Causes An Extra Piece Of Skin Inside The Vagina?

I started my period on Wednesday and I had to use a tampon for the first time and I had no problem with it, today although I couldn't take it out because it hurt and was stuck to an extra piece of skin on the left side in my vagina. what is it and what do I do?
