What Causes Anal Bleeding After Having Anal Sex?

I tried having anal sex with my boyfriend for the first time and afterward I noticed a tiny bit (less than a drop) of blood. Should I be worried? I am on my period right now but the blood definitely came from my anus. I am having cramps but no pain in my rectal area.
