What Causes Anal Itching While On Augmentin?

I've been put on Augmentin to treat an intestinal infection. I've taken it now for four days and have developed intense anal itching. Could this be linked to the use of Augmentin. What should i do? I am a 34 year old woman who is also currently nursing my 6 month old son. Is there something i could take in place of Augmentin and something to treat the itch- i cannot sleep at night due to the intensity of itching. Please help!
