What Causes Bad Odour During Menstruation?

Hi I'm 42yrs & my problem is when I'm having my monthly period it smell like number 2 .somrtimes I miss it for 2-3 months my ob gyn say I'm too early for menopause & mayb that smell is because it stale blood ur will go away but it never did ,help me plz it embarrassing
