What Causes Bitter Taste To The Tongue Post Ear Surgery?

I had ear surgery in October. Afterwards my tongue lost most sense of taste (mostly right now the middle of it). It seems to be slowly coming back but now if I eat or drink anything - even just water - and it touches the tip of my tongue there is a very bitter taste. And the taste lingers in my mouth most of the day.
