What Causes Black Blood Discharge?

Hi I am on the birth control pill, and am about a week from my period. Yesterday I started bleeding for no reason, and today it is black blood. I was hit hard in the stomach a few days ago and am just wondering if this is related? I am also experiencing alot of cramping in my lower back and stomach.
