What Causes Black/blue Streaks On Thighs And Legs?

I have black, blue and red streaks on my upper thigh and my legs are aching. What do you think is the cause?

I am 49 years old. I weigh 147 lbs and I am 5'7. I on't have any medical problems. The last doctor's visit I was diagnosed as having low iron.
