What Causes Blackness And Numbness Around The Eye?

4 years ago I went through a surgery to repair a minor lower orbital fracture and a broken nose. For some reason the I was only on the operating table for about 15 minutes before I was thrown in a vehicle and sent home. There were no mesh or hardware added in this procedure because the doctor said he lifted the bone. i could feel the doctor break my face and it hurt like heck during the operation. It has been hurting ever since, I have literally not touched that side of my face in 4 years. This past week i started noticing the pain increase and yesterday i woke up to a black eye and numbness under the same eye. Could it take 4 years for the infection to set in ?
