What Causes Bleeding After An Intercourse?

ive just started to have sex with my partner, i am not on my period ( that was well over a week ago) but i noticed bright red blood on his penis. i stopped straight away and have come on the computer to get some advice as i am now panicing!! Any ideas ??
p.s I am not pregnant
