What Causes Bleeding After Intercourse?

I have been diagnosed with cervical ectropia and recently shows that I have been bleeding after intercourse. I am a 42 year old female,8 to 8 and a half stone with a height of 4ft 11. I consider my self to be fit in all other areas. I have recently come of oral contraceptive Microgynon about a month ago I have just entered back into a relationship and was wondering if my partner used condoms would my ectropia subside? eventually it would be nice for my partner to stop using condoms so is there an effective alternative to oral contraceptive we could use to prevent pregnancy as at 42 I feel it is too late to start a family. My partner has not had children so would not be dissapointed if I was to concieve but I feel I am too old to and have two children already, a little confused but I guess my main concern is the ectropia and how I can have intercourse with out bleeding.
