What Causes Bleeding From Ear?

I went swimming a few days ago. I swam down to the bottom of the pool (10 ft) to fetch an item I had lost. My left ear took a lot of pressure and began to hurt. It soon cleared. Later on that day it felt like I had water in my ear but I didn't think much of it. Two days later, my left ear began to ache and it felt like it had pressure in it. Sounds started to get muffled. Today (3 days from swimming) I woke up and my ear ached quite a bit and had the same pressure/muffled sound feeling. I took ibuprofen and was prescribed antipyrine & benzocaine otic solution. My ear quit hurting and my hearing was coming back.

Then I got home and the pressure in my ear came back creating a heavily muffled sound. I tried cleaning my ear with rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip to no help.

When I finally lay down in bed, it felt like water was in my ear. I used a Q-Tip to check and there was some blood on it. I put my head on the pillow to see if it would drain and it drained onto my pillow. Not a huge amount of blood but it's pretty solid.

Is my ear bleeding because I have dried it out with too much rubbing alcohol? Or is it a result of an ear infection? I feel like it's nothing to do with my ear drum because I haven't felt at all dizzy and it only bled after I tried cleaning it. What's your opinion?
