What Causes Bleeding Of Tonsils?

I have a tonsil that in the morning oozes white stuff which around 10 AM switches to blood which continues until I go to bed. I had a round of prednisone with no improvement per general doctor who then referred me to the ENT. He was 98% sure it would be nothinhg, did not know why it was bleeding, and wants to take it out anyway. No one has tried antibiotics or taking cultures. would like other advise.
