What Causes Blood In Stool?

I have been passing blood in the past 4 days, with bowel movements 3-4 times a day. the blood does not seem to be increasing and is a bright read, usually my feces is little brown to greyish and blood does end up in the bowl as well. How long should I wait to see if it is just a fischer before I go see a doctor?
