What Causes Blood In Urine While On Treatment For UTI And Kidney Infection?

A friend of mine is being treated for a ITI and kidney infection but has gotten worse over weekend, peeing blood stringy stuff coming out and extreme pain, she goes for a caravan mon and the word cancer has come up, she also had the bladder mesh lift what could the causes be? Also she drank like 5 bottles of water but only peed the equivalent of one, she's scared and I want to know if it could be other things then cancer or could it be kidney failure? Thank you
