What Causes Blood In Urine With History Of Cancer?

My question is for my husband, Cameron. About 3 years ago he had his left kidney removed due to cancer. He has regular full body scans and is cancer free according to his Neurologist. Today after urinating he had some blood in his underwear,not a lot but enough to make me concerned. What could be the cause?
