What Causes Bloody Vaginal Discharge During Sex?

during sex two nights ago I had some bloody vaginal discharge. This has never happened before. My period is not due to start until 10-31. after I cleaned up there has not been any other pink tinged discharge. it has all been normal. what could this be? should i contact my doctor or see if it happens again 1st
