What Causes Blurry Vision For Short Distances Post Cataract Surgery?

I had cataract surgery on both eyes several years ago. The doctors said I would not ever need glasses again. I was wearing them for nearsightedness starting I think in late thirties and could nor read at all with them. The surgeries were in early sixties and I was still not needing reading glasses but was getting there. I m now seventy three and my eyes have changed. A tv 10 feet away is somewhat blurry, especially if I have been asleep, and was perfect before. About 15 months ago my eye doctor was surprised that the cataract docs said i would not ever need glasses. Of course I plan to go to my eye doctor soon but just wonder if that is generally true. No glasses after cat surg ???
