What Causes Brown Coloured Stools Along With Mucus String In Bowels?

Yesterday I passed a reddish brown stool. I hadn t eaten anything red so it concerned me. This morning I felt dizzy and before laying down used the bathroom. When I stood up light brown liquid was dripping from my anus. When I wiped a long tubular string about 8 inches long and 0.25 inches in diameter was stuck to me. It was fibrous like a plant stem but I hadn t eaten any plants. It had a few bumps which I determined to be feces inside the tube. It smelled like a dead clam. I saved it in a baggie in some alcohol to show a doctor if necessary. Is this serious enough to warrant a trip to the ER or can I wait until Monday to make an appointment with my doctor?
