What Causes Brown Discharge From Penis?

My husband has a brown discharge from his penis. We have been married for 22 yrs - with no STDs from either of us. He has had many surgeries for cancer - now has a supra public tube because he stopped being able to urinate. His urlogist said there was nothing found from a clean catch urine test. I think they did a swab and nother showed? Now what?
