What Causes Brown Rusty Spots On The Tips Of Both My Thumbs And A Few Fingers?

I woke up this morning with brown rusty spots on the tips of both my thumbs and a few fingers. I thought they might be stains from something I touched accidentally, but they won t wash out. I am very worried this has something to do with my health. Can you help me?
