What Causes Brown Spots On The Cheeks?

Hi, im a black women who has bownish spots on the apple of her cheeks- they seem to be genetic becuase my mother has them too, but is there seriously no way of getting rid of them!!? Im very light and having these spots makes it seem as though I have frickles...and no they cant be frickles. Please help.T.
